looming trilogy
The looming trilogy responds to concepts of fragmentation, dislocation, impermanence and connection as intrinsic conditions of the human experience. Finding analogy in concepts of weaving and textile production, whereby various parts become interwoven and entangled to create a whole, the action of interweaving is addressed in both a metaphorical and spatial way. Aesthetically echoing the configuration of a loom, sheer ribbon weaves around various scaffolding structures. Acting like a fragmented projection surface, the ribbon dissects and displays projections across various depths of field. At points of intersection, the fractured text and images are momentarily assembled along a flat plane, rendering them temporarily legible. This act of fleeting consolidation plays into larger concepts of dispersion and convergence, whereby things are held together momentarily only to be pulled apart again.
